Electrical Designer

Job Title: Electrical Designer
Location: Columbia, SC

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop detailed electrical drawings for controls and automation hardware for panel fabrication and field use using AutoCAD and Eplan.
  • Specify bill of materials and design PLC-based control systems, panels, drives and related power distribution systems.
  • Design and draft industrial electrical schematics and assemblies, wiring diagrams, cable lists, cable management systems in detail.
  • Ensure designs meet all applicable codes as applicable such as UL-508A, NFPA 79, NEC and other codes as applicable based on location.
  • Interface with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly

Skills & Competencies:

  • 2 year associates degree in Engineering Technology or 3 plus years of experience with industrial electrical controls.
  • Experience with instrumentation, sensors, drives/motor control and the related power distribution.
  • Knowledge of EIP/ Profinet networks
  • Knowledge of Siemens and Rockwell PLC systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environments
  • Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Will be able to work effectively with minimal oversight.
  • Must work well with clients and REI employees.
  • Must be able to travel – job will require some out of town work typically in the Southeast but also internationally for customer support and project installations.
Controls Engineer

Job Title: Controls Engineer

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design of control systems for a wide variety of automated equipment including assembly, part feeding, part handling, welding, dispensing, testing, measuring, etc. utilized in automated equipment for a wide range of manufacturing customers.
  • Design/programming of control systems for automated equipment, including work with PLC’s, servo motion, robotics, machine vision, etc.
  • Interfacing with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
  • Commissioning of machine to meet customer quality and cycle time requirements including testing and onsite startup.
  • Ensuring that projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation

Skills & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience with automated equipment
  • Able to write complete PLC programs from beginning to end for Rockwell and Siemens
  • Able to program Rockwell and Siemens HMI’s
  • Experience with industrial robots such as Fanuc, Epson, Kuka, ABB
  • Experience with AC and Servo motion control
  • Programming barcode and RFID applications
  • Programming direct part marking applications
  • Experience with data logging and database interfaces
  • Excellent interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environments
  • Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently.

Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design of highly varied types of mechanical systems, including fixtures, machining, assembly, part feeding, part handling, welding, dispensing, testing, measuring, etc. utilized in automated equipment for a wide range of manufacturing customers.
  • Production of detailed drawings and specification of purchased parts, and development of the Bill of Material.
  • Analysis of mechanical systems, including Finite Element analysis
  • Interfacing with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
  • Leading assembly, testing and onsite startup. Debugging of machine to meet customer quality and cycle time requirements.
  • Pneumatics and servo controlled assembly design.
  • Design/programming of control systems for automated equipment, including work with PLC’s, servo motion, robotics, machine vision, etc.
  • Concept development based on customer specification. Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
  • Ensure that projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

Skills & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Four + years of experience with automated equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environments
  • Candidate should be experienced with solid modeling software. SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proficient in both Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Will be able to work effectively with minimal oversight.
  • Must work well with clients and REI employees.
  • Must be able to travel – job will require some out of town work typically in the southeast but also internationally for customer support and project installations.

Relationships: Position will answer directly to the Engineering Manager

Salary: $50,000-$80,000 annually

Field Service Engineer

Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Responsibilities will include:

  • Field Service Engineer will assist with assembly, programming, and commissioning of factory automation equipment including assembly, part feeding, part handling, pressing, welding, dispensing, testing, measuring, robots, etc. for a wide range of manufacturing customers.
  • Field Service Engineer must travel to a customer’s site and remain on site for the duration of time necessary to troubleshoot existing equipment, repair existing equipment, install new equipment, and run factory acceptance trials. Travel is expected to be 50%.
  • Field Service Engineer will receive customer calls, estimate costs, and submit quotes to customers as needed. Upon completion of service, he will fully document service detailing labor, material, and travel cost.

Skills & Competencies:

  • 5+ years of experience with automated equipment
  • Able to troubleshoot PLC programs
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair and wide range of automation equipment including robots from several manufacturers
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings
  • Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Will be able to work effectively with minimal oversight
  • Must work well with clients and REI employees
