Machine Design

REI Automation uses the latest, robust technologies to develop machine designs for assembly lines, lean cells, robotic cells and custom machines.

Mechanical engineers at REI typically use SolidWorks as a design tool to fully design machine systems in 3D solid-modeling CAD. Solid models allow us to collaborate with the customer, clearly depicting the details of the design throughout our Proven10 product development process. Our constant goal is to build robust, well-built equipment that will prove reliable for many years. These heavy-duty construction methods are tied together with thoughtful and neat wiring and plumbing protocols… we want our machines to stand out as aesthetically pleasing.

Our electrical engineers and designers produce the electrical drawings and panel layouts used to bring the machines to life. For assembly lines, REI will typically design around a device-level buss system, such as EthernetIP or ProfiNet. This approach provides our customers with the ability to easily make modifications for future needs. All electrical designs include full consideration of all safety guarding standards required for custom machines or robotic cells. While our UL508 panel shop produces the designs to the highest standards in the industry.

rei automation assembly for machines REI’s control engineering staff writes the logic code that ensures our customers will be able to easily come behind us to service and support the equipment. Our programming standards are based on our desire to provide fully documented and orderly programs, the heart of a great machine system. Our engineers are experienced in Rockwell (Allen Bradley), Siemens, Mitsubishi and other popular PLC platforms, as required by our customer plant standards.

Our expertise extends into the technologies that are integrated into our machine systems: robotics, servomotors, vision systems, laser scanning, marking systems, ultrasonic welding, feeders, torqueing systems, leak testers, feeding systems, conveyors, packaging equipment and many others. REI has integrated many robot brands over the years, including Fanuc, Yaskawa (Motoman), ABB and KUKA, Staubli, Epson, Mitsubishi, Denso, Adept and Universal. REI has the unique experience of developing vision-guidance for robots with vision system providing feedback. We have also built systems for material handling, CNC machine tool tending, TIG welding, spot welding, stapling and precision assembly.

REI stands ready to create a robust, elegant and innovative solution for your machine automation system needs.
